Powerful Motor

1200 Watts of power from the Miele produced Vortex Motor System™.

The Capricorn even has an "overheat" indicator to tell you if the vacuum has overheated due to a clog in the hose or wand assembly.

In addition, the Capricorn has a "standby" indicator. This indicates when the power switch is turned on, but the machine has been placed in the "standby" mode by way of the power selector switch on the handle.

The Capricorn is equipped with an exhaust filter change indicator (Reset button) which is designed to alert the user when to change the Active Air Clean or Active HEPA filter.

Variable power control by way of Plus and Minus buttons on the hose handle

Plus and Minus buttons with LED indicators on the vacuum hose handle permit you to conveniently adjust the suction level to six different levels without opening an air valve thereby reducing the chance of allergens escaping into the air. There is even a "Silence" setting that combines the lowest noise output with the ideal power level for optimum cleaning results.

Cordwinder

A simple push of the button, and the electric cord rewinds for convenient storage.

Fully integrated on-board Tools

To ensure that accessories don't go missing, the S5 features a neat, on-board storage compartment. A crevice nozzle for hard to reach corners, an upholstery tool for all those crumbs on the couch and a dusting brush for the cobwebs in the corners are always on hand, whenever you need them.

Floor Tools Included

The Capricorn comes standard with the SEB 217-3 Electric Powerbrush and the SBB 300-3 Parkett Floor Brush.. The electric powerbrush is good for low to high-pile-pile carpet. The SBB 300-3 Parquet Floor Brush is excellent for vacuuming all type of hard flooring surfaces.

The SES 130 electric hose has on the hose handle an on/off switch for the powerbrush. In addition, this hose also has Plus and Minus buttons to electronically control the suction level.

NOTE: The SEB 217-3 is great for vacuuming carpets and rugs if you have large amounts of pet hair to vacuum or a lot of traffic on the carpet.

For even heavier carpet or cleaning larger areas, there is an optional SEB 236 electric powerbrush.

NOTE: Since the SEB 236 is more aggressive than the SEB 217, we do not recommend the SEB 236 for cleaning delicate rugs or rugs of value.

Telescoping Wand Set

The stainless steel wand telescopes to adjust to the optimum height for each user. No more wands to hook together. Simply press a button on the wand, and adjust it to the proper length.

Cleverly designed with a travel ramp to help you maneuver your vacuum easily over thresholds and around obstructions.

For short breaks, the wand and floor tool can simply be inserted into the park system on the back of the machine. This allows you to answer the door or the phone without having to find an unsafe resting place for the wand or laying it on the floor.

The Park System on the Capricorn also switches off the motor, saving you time when you are interrupted. Lift the floor tool out of the Park System and the vacuum resumes at the same power setting as when you stopped.

Double-sided wand holder

For safe storage and easy transportation, two fittings allow the telescopic wand assembly to be hooked onto the side of the vacuum when it is upright - one on either side. So no matter whether you are right-handed or left-handed, the S5 offers you an ideal solution. If you need to carry the vacuum cleaner up and down stairs, you will have the other hand free to hold on to the railing.

Integrated Electric Hose Connection

The Capricorn has a built-in connection with a direct-connect electric hose. This eliminates the need for a separate wire from the vacuum to the electric hose.

In addition, the Capricorn has a direct connect telescopic wand that eliminates the need for an electric wire from the hose handle to the powerbrush.

Both features make vacuuming and changing tools much easier.

This helps avoid the need of having to move the plug to different electrical outlets as frequently. Together with the hose and suction tube (wand), you have an operating radius of 29 1/2 feet.

Large capacity dust bag

The S5 series vacuums use the "GN" electrostatically charged IntensiveClean Plus™ disposable dust bag that has a large capacity of 4.76 quarts. There is even a flap to cover the opening for dust-free removal of the dust bag. (2 bags are supplied with the vacuum).

Durable bumper strip

The fully integrated bumper strip made from soft plastic goes all the way around the vacuum to protect both furniture and the vacuum in the event of a collision.
